Blake
Blake became part of Higos Insurance Services on September the 1st 2008.
Blake Insurance Services was established by Mike and Kim Dodden in 1995 to work alongside Mike's accountancy practice which he had set up in Bridgwater in 1980.
The company was named after local hero, Admiral Robert Blake (1599 — 1657) who was born in Bridgwater and is often referred to as the "Father of the Royal Navy". Blake built the largest navy the country had then ever known, from a few tens of ships to well over a hundred, and developed many of the naval battle tactics that led to the many victories of the navy.
Blake Insurance grew organically and through acquisition and now has nearly 3,000 customers and a team of 7 staff. In recent years, the couple found it increasingly difficult as a small local broker to provide both a high level of personal service and a competitive premium. So when Higos approached them they realised that both companies shared the same ethos and that with Higos, Blake would have access to a much wider range of insurers and schemes that would benefit clients.
