Higos Supports Weston HospicecareWednesday 11th July 2012
Higos Insurance Services is delighted to support Weston Hospicecare, a local charity which helps people in the community with life-limiting illnesses and also supports their families. Alan Clarke, Branch Manager of Higos’ Worle branch, presented a cheque for £350 to Sarah Livermore, Corporate Fundraiser for Weston Hospicecare on Thursday 5th July, 2012 outside Higos’ Worle branch.
Weston Hospicecare have been established for 23 years and provide care and support to anyone with a life-limiting illness. Their patients principally include people with cancer and degenerative illnesses and their care also extends to family members and friends of the patient in providing counselling, support and bereavement services.
Weston Hospicecare has a day hospice which runs three days a week and can support up to 16 patients per day.
The services cost £3 million a year to run and the hospice relies on the local community, their fundraisers, their shops and government funding to keep them going. Only 19% of their running costs are government funded.
Alan Clarke commented “As a community based insurance broker with a local office Higos is delighted to support Weston Hospicecare. Sarah explained how much the organisation relies on fundraising to keep the hospice going and we are pleased to be able to help.”
Sarah Livermore commented "As a local charity, looking after local people with life-limiting illnesses, Weston Hospicecare is delighted that Higos has chosen to support us. £350 could cover the cost of running all the Hospice services for one hour and we are truly grateful for their support"
