Higos Welcomes Motor Insurance InvestigationFriday 1st June 2012
News that the UK’s Competition Commission has been asked to investigate motor insurance costs should be welcomed according to Ian Gosden, Managing Director of Higos Insurance Services.
“Part of this investigation is to centre on referral fees after the Office of Fair Trading said the market was “dysfunctional”. We should welcome this study, particularly any look at referral fees.
"Referral fees warp the cost of any claim. We should rid the sector of all referral fees for once and for all. Motorists should not be charged for these hidden costs. The OFT says fees are adding some £225m a year to drivers’ premiums. This is simply wrong and should be stopped.
“It is time to return to a more open and honest system in which motorists are charged fairly for their insurance premiums.”
