HIGOS DONATES TO BRAIN TUMOUR SUPPORTFriday 24th July 2015
Higos Insurance Services is delighted to support Brain Tumour Support (formally Hammer Out).
Brain Tumour Support is the only brain tumour charity dedicated to supporting the South West and Midlands. Created by Tina Mitchell Skinner after losing her husband to the disease, Brain Tumour Support provides specialist tailored services for anyone affected by any type of brain tumour. The charity support not only the brain tumour patient, but also families, carers and loved ones who are dealing with the day to day impact of the brain tumour diagnosis.
The charity was brought to the Higos Community Fund by George Tucker, an Insurance Adviser in Higos’ Bridgwater Branch. George lost his sister, Victoria (Tori), to a brain tumour in 2006 when she was just nine years old. Hammer Out (now Brain Tumour Support) were there for Victoria and her family throughout treatment and provided vital support to the family during the extremely tough time afterwards.
George commented “I’m delighted that Brain Tumour Support is being supported by the Higos Community Fund. It’s a charity that is clearly very close to my heart, and I’m pleased in knowing that the £500 will go a very long way to helping them”.
Tina commented “This donation is wonderful and will help us to provide further support to families affected by a brain tumour. Tori Tucker was one of the first children who was supported by the charity. Tori and her family touched our hearts and it is for her and those like her that Brain Tumour Support is determined to provide continuing support to families who face this devastating illness. This charity is all about the family and for George to have put us forward for this money means such a lot to us”.
