Higos Supports SAVESMonday 16th March 2015
Higos Insurance Services is delighted to support SAVES (Somerset Accident Voluntary Emergency Services) who have been chosen as the Higos Charity of the Year.
SAVES is a local charity who provide and maintain a network of volunteer doctors who support the ambulance service in Somerset. The doctors have specialised training in the emergency management of trauma and medical conditions outside of a hospital. They respond to incidents at the request of ambulance control in their own cars carrying specialist equipment provided by SAVES. SAVES Doctors can effectively bring hospital treatments to the patient and can take their care one step further.
Felicity Dibben of the Higos Community Fund commented “We are delighted to support SAVES and the vital work they do for the Somerset community. Our donation of £1,494.50 has come from two sources; the first £994.50 of the donation has come from an auction of hampers which staff members created to raise funds for SAVES and £500 has come directly from the Higos Community Fund. SAVES really do make a difference in our area and we’re happy to do what we can to help them.”
Jackie Collings, SAVES Fundraising Coordinator commented “Thank you so much for making us your Charity of the Year and donating £1,494.50 from the Higos Community Fund. We have spent the last four years trying to raise £40,000 to enable our four volunteer doctors to carry a monitor in their cars with them. We now have three of the monitors and this money will go towards the £10,000 needed for the final monitor which we hope to purchase this year. The monitors will help our doctors to provide vital care.”
