Higos Insurance Services supports Jacob's Journey - his wish to walkFriday 4th March 2016
After being born prematurely, Jacob was diagnosed with Spastic Cerebral Palsy at 18 months, which affects both of his legs. Jacob is unable to walk without selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) surgery, an operation which has been developed in Missouri, United States of America. Jacob’s Journey – his wish to walk, has been founded to raise funds to fly Jacob and his family to America for the operation. The procedure, which will give Jacob the chance to walk for the first time and cover the cost of intensive private physiotherapy for two years afterwards.
Nicola Baird, Jacob’s Mum, commented “Thank you so much for the donation from the Higos Community Fund of £500 towards Jacobs’s treatment. My son is a happy, determined little boy who wants to learn to walk so he can join in and have fun with his two big sisters. The frustration is beginning to show with him as he grows up and realises his limitations. He so desperately wants to walk but his legs just won’t let him. I cannot thank Higos enough for your kind donation.”
Emily Wright of the Higos Community Fund commented “Higos is very happy to have been able to help Jacob get one step closer to being able to walk. As a community broker it’s fantastic to be able to help a local family. We wish Jacob all the best for the procedure and look forward to seeing him walking in the near future.”
