Samantha Slade from Higos named Finalist in Insurance AwardMonday 22nd May 2017

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has recently named Samantha Slade of Higos Insurance Services as a National Highly Commended Finalist in its Young Broker of the Year 2017 award.
The BIBA Young Broker of the Year is a national award that recognises individual talent, commitment and strong performance within the insurance broking industry. It also aims to encourage brokers to maintain high standards and commitment within the insurance industry.
The awards for Young Broker of the Year 2017 were presented by Olympic gold medallist Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill at the BIBA Conference in Manchester on Wednesday 10th May.
Each year three applicants are chosen to receive awards, after passing various stages and assessments. The Young Broker of the Year 2017 National Winner was awarded to Oliver Ferrari from Marsh, with the two National Highly Commended Finalist awards going to Samantha Slade from Higos Insurance Services and Siobhan Mulvaney from Willis Towers Watson.
Samantha, who works at our Somerton office, joined Higos in June 2013 and said that being named a finalist in the Young Broker awards is her greatest achievement so far. “The whole experience of the BIBA Young Broker award 2017 is something I will never forget” said Sam.
“I couldn’t believe that I had been nominated for the award and to get through to the finals day in London was really exciting! We had to go through multiple stages including interviews, a team building activity and a presentation” Sam added.
“To then hear that I was through to the final stage in Manchester and was in the final three was just amazing! Achieving runner up of the award and receiving highly commended is something I am really proud of.”
Sam started in the renewal department for the specialist property team. She has progressed during her time with Higos and is now an assistant underwriter for personal lines. Before Higos, Sam worked in a care home with no insurance experience, but applied for a role with Higos after seeing the level of commitment to qualifications and career progression that the company offers. Sam has also previously been named Trainee of the Year 2014 at Higos’ annual awards ceremony.
