Management Team

  • Ian Gosden, Managing Director

    Ian is the founder and Managing Director of Higos and has built the business from scratch. He started his career in the life industry in 1986. After several requests for general insurance products Higos Insurance Services was founded in 1990. Customer service and advice were key to early success, looking after the clients of other Financial Advisors. Higos has been built on the back of hard work and staff development with Ian’s key skills of developing new business areas, maintaining and developing relationships and negotiating contracts with insurance companies.
  • Claire Blaymires, Operations Director & Group Company Secretary

    Claire is the Director of Operations and Group Company Secretary. She is responsible for compliance/audit and business processes as well as the portfolio of property including maintenance. She is also responsible for acquisitions and post sale integration. She has been in the Financial Services industry since 1994 joining Higos in 1997. Claire is CeMAP, and FPC qualified and has achieved her Diploma in Company Direction via the Institute of Directors.
  • Julian Unthank, HR Director

    Julian is Human Resources Director and joined Higos in August 2007 following 22 years with Lloyds TSB in various Senior HR roles both in the UK and abroad. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development he is responsible for implementing and delivering the "People Strategy" focusing on resourcing, talent management, training, career development and learning opportunities.
  • Nigel Thomas, Finance Director

    Nigel joined Higos in November 2012 and has 17 years experience within the insurance broking industry, most recently as Group Finance Director at Gallagher Heath. Nigel, who is FCCA qualified, is responsible for leading our Accounts Department and the continued development of our financial management information.
  • Trudy Brown, Head of Personal Lines

    Trudy is responsible for developing all personal lines insurance (non motor) including Non Standard, Specialist Travel and Mid & High Net Worth. Trudy has 28 years experience in the insurance industry and has a strong focus on schemes and underwriting.
  • Jason Livingstone, Head of Motor

    Jason joined Higos in November 2013, following our acquisition of Livingstones Warman Insurance Brokers in Yeovil. Jason is now responsible for all motor products throughout our business.
  • Chris Wilde, Head of Commercial Lines

    Chris is responsible for our Business Enterprise, Higos Underwriting and Commercial Claims teams, in addition to developing relationships with our commercial insurance partners and developing our commercial product lines. Chris joined Higos in 2008 and is ACII qualified and a Chartered Insurance Broker. Chris has 33 years experience within the industry in various commercial insurance related roles including 10 years of successfully running his own insurance brokerage.
  • Donal Henry, Regional Branch Manager - Bath and East

    Donal is Regional Branch Manager for Bath and East, with over 20 years industry experience with Zurich (as a key account manager), RSA and McCarthy Insurance Group (as Commercial Manager). He has a wealth of knowledge dealing with corporate business and oversees our Calne, Devizes and Bath branches.
  • Alan Clarke, Regional Branch Manager - Bridgwater and West

    Alan joined Higos in July 2000 and has spent his whole working career with Higos carrying out both personal lines and commercial roles. Alan is ACII qualified, was awarded as Highly Commended BIBA Young Broker 2015 and is the current Regional Chair of the BIBA West of England region. Alan works closely with staff in our Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Braunton, Bideford and Bude branches to manage performance, create opportunities and develop their careers.
  • Darren Siwiec, Regional Branch Manager - Plymouth and South

    Darren joined Higos Insurance Services in April 2013, having 12 years industry experience, for both online and local insurance brokers. During his time with Higos Darren has developed his career from starting as an Insurance Adviser in the Plymstock branch, to now being a Regional Manager. Darren is on the council for the Chartered Insurance Institute of Exeter, and is currently the Young Professionals Group Leader. He currently holds a Diploma in General Insurance and is working towards his Advanced Diploma as part of Higos’s commitment to continued professional development. Darren is responsible for all Personal Lines and Commercial business in our Plymouth and Exeter branches.
  • Ralph Hann, Regional Branch Manager - Bristol and North

    Ralph joined Higos in April 2013 from UK General where he was Schemes Sales Manager. Ralph has previously worked at Jelf and AXA and has spent most of his career in various management roles. Ralph has an underwriting and sales management background including experience in the creation and development of our schemes. Ralph is the Regional Branch Manager for our branches in the Bristol and North area.
  • Paul Dyer, Regional Branch Manager - South Coast

    Paul joined Higos Insurance Services in 2015 and has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry. He has held senior management positions with various brokers and is currently responsible for our Bridport, Ferndown and Park Gate branches. Paul is Diploma qualified and sits on the Bournemouth CII council, in addition to also being a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management.
  • Sarah Neale, Regional Branch Manager - Central Somerset

    Sarah joined Higos in July 1994. ACII qualified and a chartered insurance broker, Sarah is responsible for the management and development of the teams in our Central Somerset branches. Sarah is passionate about seeing her staff develop their career paths at Higos with the opportunities available. Sarah has previously worked in both our personal lines and commercial lines divisions.
  • Neil Wyatt, Head of Marketing

    Neil is responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategy at Higos. A qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Neil has 22 years marketing experience across multiple industries. Neil joined Higos in January 2009.
  • Stephanie Trebble, Head of Claims

    Joining Higos as a Claims Handler in 1999, Stephanie became the Claims Manager for both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines and was promoted to Head of Claims. Stephanie has worked in the insurance industry for nearly 40 years, the last 19 years in claims and her industry knowledge is invaluable when it comes to providing claims service to our clients.
  • Adelle Hawkey, Head of Compliance

    Adelle joined us in September 2014. Having worked in the insurance sector for over twenty years, Adelle comes with a wealth of experience, having previously run an Independent Financial Advisers and most recently heading up the Quality and Legal departments for the UK arm of a multinational insurance company. Through her proactive approach within the compliance field, Adelle has been a finalist in the National Business Awards on two occasions.
  • John Peverall, Property and Facilities Manager

    John joined Higos in 2012 as Property & Facilities Manager responsible for the day to day operation of the company's rapidly expanding property portfolio. He joined Higos after 23 years with the Bank of Ireland where he had been responsible for service delivery across GB and Northern Ireland. A Chartered Building Surveyor for over 20 years he has a wealth of experience in project and facilities management, building surveying, maintenance, property acquisition and health & safety.
  • Vicki Carter, Customer Services Manager

    Vicki joined Higos Insurance Services in 2004. During her time at Higos Vicki has held a variety of management positions and has gained valuable experience in many departments. Vicki is now focused on developing and implementing our customer service policy, liaising with all areas of the business to ensure we deliver best practice for each and every client.
