Payment Protection Scheme For Property Tenants LaunchedMonday 25th January 2010
Tenants concerned about meeting their rental payments in the event of unemployment or sickness are being offered a new payment protection plan launched by Higos Insurance Services.
The policy covers both private and social tenants and is also available to those living at home paying rent to parents. Furthermore, it can be extended to cover a range of monthly outgoings including mobile phone bills, gym membership, TV subscriptions and finance agreements (excluding credit cards). .
“The rented sector is huge, making up about one-third of the overall housing market but the vast majority of tenants are exposed should misfortune strike,” said Ian Gosden, managing director of Higos.
“It is common for people with mortgages to protect their payments but only now are plans becoming available that give tenants the same peace of mind, not only to cover their cost of the roof over their heads but also a range of other fixed monthly outgoings that people cannot afford to lose.”
The new PPI product can be tailored to fit individual needs and can be purchased with a choice of cover between accident, sickness and unemployment, accident and sickness or unemployment only.
The policy features competitive benefit levels to that of a standard PPI policy offered to mortgage holders, and is available to all those in paid employment on a 12 or 18-month benefit option.
The policy is available through our growing network of 15 high street branches, located throughout the South West, or by calling 01749 834 500.
