Higos supports Radio CamelotThursday 2nd October 2014
Higos Insurance Services is delighted to support Radio Camelot, the hospital radio station based in Yeovil Hospital.
Radio Camelot broadcasts daily to the patients, visitors and staff at Yeovil Hospital from their own studio, which has been located within the hospital since it opened in 1973.
The station broadcasts a diverse range of specialist programmes throughout the week, including their own version of Desert Island Discs, Classics on Camelot and The Country Show. The most popular programme is The Request Show, which is broadcast every night and hosted by the stations rota of volunteer DJ's, playing requests made by hospital patients.
Clive Wyatt, from the Higos Community Fund, explains how the donations will be used "our donation of £300 - which is donated from our staff via the Higos Community Fund - will help with the annual running costs of Radio Camelot. Every year the station needs to raise £2,000 to remain on air, to cover licensing to be able to play music and, more importantly, the cost of headphones which are given to patients and then the disinfecting process when they are returned and before they are issued to a new patient. We are delighted to donate to such a worthy cause."
